Think about it \u2013 most of them are getting up early and rushing like crazy to fit your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.projectswole.com\/exercise-2\/6-types-of-fitness-classes-for-every-skill-level\/\">workout class<\/a> in three to five times a week. This brings me to my next tip\u2026<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ultimate Boot Camp Workout Exercise Tip #2: Complexity In Small Doses\u2026<\/h2>\n<p>I frequently see fitness instructors who appear to be competing for who can create the most confusing and complicated workout. I think this is probably a throwback to the <a aria-label=\"aerobics craze of the eighties (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/flashbak.com\/10-reasons-aerobics-in-the-1980s-was-crazy-awesome-76\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">aerobics craze of the eighties<\/a>, although it is also a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.projectswole.com\/medical\/should-i-exercise-when-i-am-sick\/\">sickness<\/a> perpetuated by an industry that is always trying to sell the next greatest thing. However, if your clients wanted to be confused by their workout, they\u2019d do a step aerobics class; trust me, making your workouts more natural to understand will improve your retention drastically.<\/p>\n<p>So, at all times, keep your exercise selections restricted to those movements that can be emulated with minimal demonstration and instruction. Here\u2019s a litmus test for you \u2013 if your mom couldn\u2019t do it after watching you demo it once, it probably doesn\u2019t belong in your workout.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Boot Camp Workout Exercise Tip #3: Be A Multi-Maniac<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cMulti-maniacs\u201d are fitness instructors who favor exercises that engage multiple muscle groups, that are <a aria-label=\"multi-joint (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livestrong.com\/article\/424718-multi-joint-exercises\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">multi-joint<\/a>, and involve multi-planar movement. This is how the body moves typically during your clients\u2019 activities of daily living. Whether they\u2019re unloading groceries from the car, picking their baby up from the floor, or doing a double-leg takedown in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.projectswole.com\/martial-arts\/jiu-jitsu-a-martial-art-with-surprising-health-perks\/\">jiu-jitsu<\/a> practice, the body moves in unison, not as separate parts.<\/p>\n<p>So, leave the single-joint\/single-plane exercises to the gym trainers. As I said previously, if your clients wanted to be at the gym doing those exercises, they would be. So, give them functional exercises, and that adds some fun and variety to their workouts. In almost every instance, the \u201cmulti-maniac\u201d approach will fit the bill.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Final Thoughts<\/h2>\n<p>A well-designed boot camp workout isn\u2019t about cramming in every exercise you know or pushing people to exhaustion for the sake of it \u2014 it\u2019s about smart choices. From a personal trainer\u2019s perspective, the best boot camp workouts rely on compound movements that deliver the most return in the least amount of time, flow smoothly from one exercise to the next, and challenge the entire body without requiring heavy equipment or a long setup.<\/p>\n<p>When participants only have 45 minutes or less, efficiency matters. The goal is to help people move better, get stronger, and leave feeling accomplished \u2014 not overwhelmed or injured.
