Varnado, Cortavion Gooden, Tykeia Magee, Samiya Lowery and Maliyah Walker, secured runner-up honors at the 4A State Powerlifting Championships over the weekend at the Jackson Coliseum.<\/p>\n<p>The respective teams also shattered various records, beginning with Varnado breaking the 4A state deadlift record with a 605-pound lift in the 165-pound class.<\/p>\n<p>Gooden earned Super 12 honors in the super heavyweight division with a 700-pound squat, 355-pound bench press and 600-pound deadlift.<\/p>\n<p>Walker also earned a Super 12 spot with a 400-pound squat, 175-pound bench press and 400-pound deadlift in the 242 class.<\/p>\n<p>Tyrone Varando leads the school&#8217;s vaunted powerlifting program, and this all comes after both the Eagles&#8217; teams earned <a href=\"https:\/\/www.enterprise-journal.com\/s-pike-boys-powerlifting-captures-19th-south-state-title\">top honors at the 4A South-State meets they hosted earlier this month<\/a>.<\/p>\n<section id=\"block-enjinstory1-2\" class=\"adzone_container block block-block-content block-block-content39660708-60f5-4ab1-9ff1-1e2a5b0e4c37 clearfix\" block-title=\"ENJ in story 1\">\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.enterprise-journal.com\/s-pike-powerlifting-teams-break-records-secure-runner-honors-4a-state-meet\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The South Pike boys and girls powerlifting teams, led by T.J.
