Mr Jalood was accompanied by IWF General Secretary Jos\u00e9 Qui\u00f1ones and by IWF CEO Achilleas Tsogas.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-43307\" src=\"https:\/\/iwf.sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Jalood_Coventry2-1024x959.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"959\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iwf.sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Jalood_Coventry2-1024x959.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/iwf.sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Jalood_Coventry2-300x281.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/iwf.sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Jalood_Coventry2-768x719.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/iwf.sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Jalood_Coventry2.jpeg 1479w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><em>IOC President Kirsty Coventry and IWF President Mohammed Jalood<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The IWF delegation started by expressing our International Federation\u2019s deepest gratitude and appreciation for the inclusion of two additional bodyweight categories in the 2028 Olympic Games Los Angeles programme, thus decisively contributing to a safer and fairer competitive environment for the athletes. The upcoming Olympic rendezvous will comprise six categories for both men and women. Comparing with the Paris 2024 programme (5+5), there will be now a reduction in the gap between the categories, a request specifically addressed by the IWF Athletes Commission.<\/p>\n<p>The IWF representatives also reaffirmed their complete support to Ms Conventry\u2019s efforts to dissociate Sports from any political interferences, so that athletes and their performances can remain at the core of the Olympic Movement. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-43308\" src=\"https:\/\/iwf.sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Jalood_Coventry3-1024x762.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"762\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iwf.sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Jalood_Coventry3-1024x762.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/iwf.sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Jalood_Coventry3-300x223.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/iwf.sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Jalood_Coventry3-768x571.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/iwf.sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Jalood_Coventry3.jpeg 1035w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><em>From left to right: Achilleas Tsogas (IWF CEO), Jos\u00e9 Qui\u00f1ones (IWF General Secretary), Kirsty Coventry (IOC President), and Mohammed Jalood (IWF President)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Finally, the IWF President underlined the robust restructuring that our International Federation undertook in recent years, and the efforts for the sport of Weightlifting to remain an added-value and respected partner within the Olympic Movement.<\/p>\n<p>On the occasion of this meeting, coinciding with the presence of Greek legend Pyrros Dimas signing the Olympian\u2019s Wall, the IWF representatives offered Ms Coventry a small trophy representing our Sport, and the commemorative book celebrating IWF\u2019s 120<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary in 2025.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt was a very fruitful and productive meeting. We had an open discussion on the topics involving Weightlifting and the Olympic Movement.
