Doctors performed surgery to remove one of his eyes, but he fell into a coma soon after.<\/p>\n

Fifty days later, with no signs of improvement, the 30-year-old died on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Originally from the village of Yam in northeastern Iran<\/a>, Davood moved to Tehran to work as a bodybuilding<\/a> coach. <\/p>\n

He regularly shared photos on social media<\/a> and dreamed of becoming a model one day, earning him the nickname \u201cBrad Pitt of Iran\u201d. <\/p>\n

Before becoming a bodybuilding coach, he worked as a motorcycle courier. <\/p>\n

Just two hours before he was shot, he celebrated winning a silver medal at a bodybuilding competition.<\/p>\n

In the aftermath of his death, his brother revealed on social media that their mother had been hospitalised after suffering a breakdown. <\/p>\n

Minutes later, the post was deleted and his account suddenly went offline.<\/p>\n

The family<\/a> is reportedly under strict surveillance by the Iranian government.<\/p>\n

According to reports, authorities have repeatedly pressured his relatives to declare that Davood was a member of the Basij. <\/p>\n

The Iranian regime has carried out a brutal crackdown, killing thousands of protestors<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Only two hours before attending the protest, Davood won silver in a bodybuilding competition<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This is a paramilitary volunteer militia within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.<\/p>\n

One source claimed officials are trying to \u201cpresent him as a martyr\u201d.<\/p>\n

His funeral was held on Wednesday in Tehran with numerous Basij member and plainclothes intelligence agents in attendance. <\/p>\n

One attendee said the ceremony was markedly different from others held for protest victims.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnlike the usual burials of other victims, which are typically rushed and last only a few minutes, this ceremony lasted about three hours,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth the organisation and eulogies were different from the norm<\/p>\n

\u201cThe extended ceremony was carried out specifically to appropriate his name.\u201d<\/p>\n

Davood leaves behind his parents, his brother and a heartbroken girlfriend \u2013 who have donated his organs. <\/p>\n

Many of his followers have paid tribute to Davood online. <\/p>\n

One user wrote: \u201cWhat a beautiful young man. God bless him and his family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another added: \u201cHeartbreaking! They are slaughtering our talented young brothers and sisters.\u201d<\/p>\n
