Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honoured international woman bodybuilder Pratibha Thapliyal on Friday in recognition of her notable achievements in bodybuilding.<\/p>\n
Dhami presented Thapliyal with a shawl and a plant as tokens of honour. He described her success as a source of pride for the women of Uttarakhand and a significant step towards women\u2019s empowerment.<\/p>\n
\u201cHer success would inspire daughters of the state, especially those living in remote mountainous regions, to move forward in sports and other fields,\u201d Dhami said. He added that women are increasingly exploring career opportunities not only in sports but also across various sectors, indicating a bright future for the state.<\/p>\n
Highlighting the state\u2019s cultural heritage, Dhami noted that Uttarakhand has traditionally been matriarchal, with women serving as the backbone of agricultural, social, and cultural life. \u201cFrom time to time, women of Uttarakhand have guided the nation and the world in environmental conservation, social service, sports, and good governance. We are proud of our women\u2019s power,\u201d he affirmed.<\/p>\n
Dhami further stated that talented women achieving success in various fields will be provided opportunities in government service to become sources of inspiration for society.<\/p>\n
Pratibha Thapliyal is among the women bodybuilders who have won medals at the Women\u2019s World Championship and the Asian Championship. Her achievements are a matter of pride for both the state and the entire country.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister also emphasised the state government\u2019s commitment to offering full support and encouragement to women athletes, enabling the daughters of Uttarakhand to continue excelling on national and international stages.<\/p>\n
