Here\u2019s how to try them out for yourself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a good exercise to use as an initial warmup, or as a finisher,\u201d offered the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muscleandfitness.com\/flexonline\/flex-news\/brandon-curry-wins-2022-arnold-classic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2019 and 2022 Arnold Classic Champ<\/a>, who also claimed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muscleandfitness.com\/flexonline\/flex-news\/how-brandon-curry-sharing-his-mr-olympia-title-fans-around-world\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mr Olympia trophy in 2019<\/a>. \u201cThe Prodigy\u201d is always on the hunt for fresh approaches that build muscle while sparing his joints and was happy to share his approach to quad building with his 1.2 million Instagram followers.<\/p>\n<h2>How To Perform Brandon Curry\u2019s Belted Cable Lunge Variations<\/h2>\n<h3>Brandon Curry\u2019s Front Belted Cable Lunge<\/h3>\n<p>Curry began by clipping his belt to the cable on the bench assisted low row machine, placing his front foot on the outer left side of the bench, while stepping back with the right foot. He explained that the front foot is the working foot here. \u201cThe key to the first variation is letting the hip move forward as the knee moves towards the toes,\u201d he noted in the accompanying caption, because it has the effect of squeezing his quads.<\/p>\n<p>The rear foot is mostly used for stabilizing, pointed out Curry, but \u201cif you choose to go heavy enough to work both legs, you can always (make it more like) a split squat.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Brandon Curry\u2019s Side Belted Cable Lunge for Quad Sweep<\/h3>\n<p>In the second exercise, Curry placed his foot side-on to the platform, facing over the side of the bench. \u201cYou\u2019re gonna line that cable up more towards the heel and the ankle,\u201d he explained. \u201cMake sure the belt is going over the thigh, pulling you down into the movement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Curry once again stabilized himself with the back foot while making a deep stretch and lunging forward. \u201cThis side movement here will emphasize the quad sweep area as you\u2019re pushing away,\u201d he demonstrated. By pushing off from the plate, Curry says he is targeting the outer quads to create separation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"link-related article link-related__with-thumb\">\n\t\t\t<a class=\"article__thumbnail\" href=\"https:\/\/www.muscleandfitness.com\/workouts\/leg-exercises\/5-lunge-variations-shake-your-next-leg-day\/\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<figure class=\"article__figure\">\n<div style=\"padding-bottom:56%;\" class=\"ratio-based-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Why These Quad Exercises Are Easier on the Knees<\/h2>\n<p>While the big man suggests that the second variation may call for a lighter load than the first, he also explains that both moves allow for a deep stretch of the quad, while taking it easier on the knees. \u201cIt\u2019s deceptively more challenging than you\u2019d think,\u201d he observed of these brilliant, belted cable lunges. The low row \u201cseems to be the position that is the best way to execute this,\u201d concluded Curry.
