When I classify one, I say arms are triceps and biceps. Even though it\u2019s two body parts, that\u2019s the same day because it\u2019s really focusing on a body part.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Cutler was a bodybuilding icon as a 4x\u00a0Mr. Olympia\u00a0spanning from 2006-2010 and a 6x runner-up. At 5\u20199\u201d tall, he\u2019s still considered one of the best bodybuilders and managed an epic rivalry with 8x Mr. Olympia\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/ronnie-coleman-profile-stats\/\">Ronnie Coleman<\/a><\/strong>. Still, he\u2019s managed to stay in fantastic shape well after retirement. What he found best was using two off days a week to allow for proper recovery.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Jay Cutler trained on a <strong>three-on, one-off, two-on, one-off schedule<\/strong>. \u201cI would always take a day off after <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/best-back-exercises\/\">back<\/a><\/span> and after a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/best-leg-exercises\/\">leg workout<\/a><\/span>\u201c<\/li>\n<li>On the first cycle, on that third day would be back. <\/li>\n<li>I take a day off and do <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/best-shoulder-exercises\/\">shoulders<\/a><\/span>. <\/li>\n<li>The next day, I would do legs<\/li>\n<li> Take another day off<\/li>\n<li>Then repeat the cycle with <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/best-chest-exercises\/\">chest<\/a><\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/arm-workout-brutal\/\">arms<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\"\/>\n<p>Jay Cutler would work endlessly to build the best physique possible but understood the important of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/science-muscle-recovery\/\">rest and recovery<\/a><\/span>. This is the reason he would make sure to get two off days into his schedule.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cFor me, that worked the best. Recovery is key. We always look at the gym and say \u2018oh, I\u2019m putting on size training in the gym.\u2019 But the truth is, getting out of the gym and eating, that consistent schedule, but I always say prioritize your fitness lifestyle.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Cutler continues to boast an incredible physique to this day. Although a bodybuilder\u2019s physique is often regarded as the epitome of their identity, Cutler consciously prioritized his long-term health over appearance. After retiring from competition in 2013, he significantly changed his training regimen, resulting in a notable\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/best-meal-replacements-for-men\/\">loss of muscle mass<\/a>. However, his workout tweaks have allowed him to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/movies-to-motivate-you\/\">stay in optimal shape<\/a>\u00a0and healthy into his 50s.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To this day, Cutler keeps his <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/how-to-boost-your-metabolism-scientifically\/\">metabolism<\/a><\/span> guessing with different methods.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cTwice a day, I\u2019m hitting my metabolism by weight training or cardiovascular. A lot of times, I\u2019m doing cardio after weight training too. So, 20 minutes fasted, 20 minutes post-workout, after the weights. Why do I do that? It\u2019s efficient for me. This is what I do.
