{"id":13795,"date":"2026-01-29T16:13:27","date_gmt":"2026-01-29T16:13:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldbodybuildingnews.com\/?p=13795"},"modified":"2026-01-29T16:13:27","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T16:13:27","slug":"bodybuilding-federation-hails-significant-investment-in-governments-6b-sport-budget","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldbodybuildingnews.com\/?p=13795","title":{"rendered":"Bodybuilding Federation hails \u2018significant investment\u2019 in government\u2019s $6B sport budget"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GBBFF) has set its sights on doubling its professional ranks after welcoming the government\u2019s $6B budget allocation for sport in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The federation, which currently boasts seven professional athletes on the international circuit, believes the \u201csignificant investment\u201d will provide the world-class equipment and facilities needed to dominate the global stage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith this level of support, we aim to double, or even triple, the number of professional athletes,\u201d the GBBFF said in a statement. \u201cThis budget is opening doors for the next generation of world champions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The budget, unveiled by Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh, includes a landmark project for the fitness community: the construction of Guyana\u2019s first-ever dedicated powerlifting and high-performance conditioning facility.<\/p>\n<p>The federation praised the leadership of subject Ministers Charles Ramson Jr and Steven Jacobs, noting that the combination of new infrastructure and a $1.2B youth development fund would \u201cpropel\u201d young talent into the successful athletes of tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Singh told the National Assembly that the government views sports as \u201cbig business\u201d and is committed to creating an environment where talent can be monetised.<\/p>\n<p>The GBBFF\u2019s endorsement comes as Guyana continues to pivot toward sports tourism.<\/p>\n<p>For the bodybuilding community, the focus remains on the \u201cmanpower\u201d and \u201cmentorship\u201d aspects of the budget.<\/p>\n<p>By employing professional coaching personnel and encouraging international athletes to return as mentors, the federation believes Guyana is finally building a sustainable \u201csporting ecosystem\u201d that matches its economic growth.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.gy\/2026\/01\/29\/bodybuilding-federation-hails-significant-investment-in-governments-6b-sport-budget\/\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GBBFF) has set its sights on doubling its professional ranks after welcoming the government\u2019s $6B budget allocation for sport in 2026.
